Even as we at Ambuja Cement continue to march ahead in our Sustainability journey, our stewardship in water resource management has been hailed by The Times of India.
The leading English daily newspaper recently published an advertisement and a news report acknowledging Ambuja’s pioneering initiatives while placing us in the august league of foremost environmentally conscious companies that have been leading the way in supporting the country to achieve water security.
The article highlighted the impact-driven water initiatives in Gujarat by our CSR arm Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF). It reported how these interventions have touched and transformed the lives of villagers reeling under acute water crisis. Ambuja Cement is now Six Times Water Positive – the only company in the industry to achieve such a high water level. Six Times Water Positive means Ambuja gave back to society six times the water it consumed in its operations.
The Times of India’s acknowledgment assumes significance at a time when India is facing a serious water crisis. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a national effort to protect and augment India’s water resources stating it an extremely urgent and worthy cause.
This newspaper has also been running a campaign for some time now, appealing to the readers that – if we don’t act now, there will be no drop remaining to fight for!
