Ambuja Cement’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Suresh Joshi laid a strong emphasis on Integrated Reporting during a panel discussion themed – Linking Strategy and Performance: Role Of Integrated Reporting – at the Directors’ symposium held recently in Delhi. The symposium was organised by the Institute of Directors (IOD) – over a century old business organisation for company directors, senior business leaders and entrepreneurs. The IOD was founded in 1903 and incorporated by the Royal Charter in 1906.
Eminent personality Helen Brand OBE, Chief Executive of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in UK, was the keynote speaker while U K Sinha, former Chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was the guest of honour. Mr Sinha is also serving Board Member on multiple boards.
Having played a key role in Ambuja Cement’s Annual Report 2017 that incorporated an entire section on Integrated Reporting, Mr Joshi introduced fresh contents to this comprehensive report over the past two years.
Mr Joshi said, “Integrated Reporting is not new for Ambuja Cement. We have not just been speaking and publishing it but also living it for the past several years. It is a way of life now at Ambuja.”
During the discussed, Mr Joshi explained various aspects of integrated reporting as well as the six capitals – Financial, Manufactured, Intellectual, Social & Relationship, Human and Natural capital – that gave a holistic view of the company, its future and how it creates value. He showcased how Ambuja’s Integrated Report clearly captured the work done on each of the six capitals. After speaking on Ambuja’s I CAN culture, Mr Joshi elaborated as to how a strong governance framework as well as business operations are ‘integrated’ in real sense to create value for shareholders, investors, customers, employees as well as communities.
