Ambuja notches up a perfect score – bags six prestigious accolades @ CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2017

It has been raining awards for Ambuja Cements Ltd., one of leading cement manufacturing companies in India. At the recent CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2017 event held in New Delhi, a whopping six awards and accolades were conferred upon the cement giant.

‘Outstanding Accomplishment for Corporate Excellence' award for demonstrating outstanding policy, practice and results by successfully incorporating sustainability in the core was bagged by Ambuja – one of few companies to get nominated for this award and the only one to have received it for the 8th time in a row.

Ambuja Cement’s three plants – Maratha Cement Works (Maharashtra), Ambujanagar (Gujarat) and Bhatapara (Chhattisgarh) -- also did the company proud for their domain excellence in environment management and corporate social responsibility, bagging five honours.

A visibly proud and ecstatic MD&CEO of Ambuja Cement, Ajay Kapur said, "It is both a thrilling and fulfilling moment for the consistent commendable performance that has ensured we covet the prestigious Corporate Excellence award for the 8th consecutive time. The amazing performance by our three manufacturing units – Maratha Cement works, Bhatapara and Ambujanagar -- for demonstrating individual domain excellence in key areas of environment management and corporate social responsibility brings home the point that this company is beyond manufacturing cement. It has showcased our unswerving efforts in achieving our sustainable and social development goals that aligns with our current and long-term vision of generating True Value towards the environment as well as the societies that we thrive in.”

The awards were presented by C. K. Mishra, Secretary - Union Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change. Also present at the award ceremony were over 200 major Indian companies that were part of the nominations for the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2017.
