Women Empowerment
Women empowerment at ACF is not
only about making a woman
economically independent, but
increasing her skills, knowledge and
decision making abilities, enabling her
to live a better quality life.
Our strong cadre of health workers – |
sakhis – is just one example of women
stepping across thresholds and making
a difference in lives of others, as well as
themselves. ACF has also been an active
supporter of SHG groups in villages,
helping women setup groups, organizing
training and helping women to establish
their own entrepreneurial ventures. So
far, ACF has been able to formulate
859 Self Help Groups and 10060
women members across locations with
an objective of creating better access
to economic and social empowerment.
One of the success stories from 2012
has been the running of a catering
business by SHG women from Panvel,
Maharashtra. Today, they profitably run
the canteen for workers at the ACL plant,
transforming their skills into business. |
Employee Volunteerism initiated in
2011, gained momentum in the year
2012, which saw participation of over
1690 ACL employees as volunteers,
clocking around 16885 hours in
community development activities. ACL
employees worked along with ACF team
and other local NGOs on theme oriented
activities. These activities ranged from
plantations for environment, from
different events with children in social
to mentoring of rural youths in SEDI
under mentoring theme. This has helped
enhanced understanding of Company
– Community partnership and also a
platform for many talented professionals
to contribute their talent to the not so
privileged section of society. |
