profit in CSR, much before the new companies Bill makes it mandatory for the corporate sector. The company has clearly identified the community as one of the significant stakeholders, and keenly interested in responding to their needs in a systematic manner. This guides our efforts in community development. Sustainability is one of the key principles of community development programmes around the world. With the changing global scenario, projects
designed and implemented with stakeholder participation are gaining
importance, thus yielding more benefits. Building skills and capacities of communities, empowering women’s groups, and working with stakeholders on water resource management and other thrust areas have been an integral part of Company’s CSR wing namely Ambuja Cement Foundation’s development activities since its inception in 1993. This is ingrained in ACF’s mission statement: ‘Energize, Involve, and Enable communities to realize their potential’ and reflected in the impact of our various initiatives across all our locations.
Community Engagement
Company has developed well
defined programmes for assessing the impacts of their operations on local communities. Social impact assessment (SIA) studies conducted by third party along with participatory rural appraisals (PRA) for the identification of key concern issues of communities are the steps taken by Company while starting its operations and during the operation.
